According to Mortin Satin, Chielf of the United Nation's Food and Agriculture Organization.

Drinking coconut water has many benefits:

Coconut Water Hydrates the Body

Coconut water is an isotonic solution which replaces the fluids and minerals that the body loses during physical activities. For this reason, many athletes and persons who work out regularly are encouraged to drink coconut water to replace all the minerals and fluid that they lose while working out. Even the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) attest to the benefits of drinking coconut water when it fought for a patent in 2000 to market coconut water as the next big sports drinks.

Coconut Water Relieves Urinary Problems

If you consume coconut water on a regular basis it can reduce urinary problems.People who suffer from strangury, polyutra and other urinary ailments drink coconut water to relieve their symptoms.

Coconut Water Kills Intestinal Worms

Drinking coconut water with one teaspoon of olive oil for three days will kill intestinal
worms and clear the stomach of worms, which makes for better digestion.

Coconut Water Breaks up Kidney Stones

People who have kidney problems and are plagued by kidney stones should drink coconut    water in addition to taking their medication. Drinking coconut water regularly helps to break up kidney stones making them easier to push out.

Coconut Water is used in Blood Transfusion

Coconut water is almost identical to blood plasma and this makes it easy to use for blood transfusion. In cases of emergency coconut water has been used as an intravenous     hydration fluid instead of the standard IV fluid. During World War II many wounded       soldiers were saved in the Pacific because of emergency transfusion using coconut water as plasma.

Coconut Water is an Antibacterial

Coconut water contains monolaurin, an antiviral, antibacterial and antiprozoal monoglyceride that is used to kill lipid-coated viruses such as HIV, Herpes, cytomegalovirus, flu and various pathogenic bacteria.

Coconut Water Controls Vomiting

Coconut water is great at reducing vomiting. People who have typhoid, malaria, fevers or other ailments that are known to induce vomiting drink coconut water to settle the stomach. As such, coconut water is also a good thing to drink during a hangover.

Green or unripe coconuts can be found in Asian and West Indian markets. All coconuts that they sell are closed up to keep coconut water from losing its nutrients. So,if you plan on buying a coconut, you can ask someone to chop the coconut open or you can open it yourself at home and drink it.

Coconut Water During Pregnancy

Many doctors recommend drinking coconut water during pregnancy due to wide range of nutritional benefits of coconut water. Young coconuts which have green shells (as opposed to the brown mature coconuts) are the ones with the most water content; this water is called coconut water or coconut juice. Tender coconut water (nariyal pani) is one of the richest sources of electrolytes. It is high in chlorides, potassium, and magnesium and has a moderate amount of sugar, sodium and protein. Potassium helps regulate blood pressure and heart function. Coconut water is also a good source of dietary fiber, manganese, calcium, riboflavin and Vitamin C.

A natural isotonic beverage with similar levels of electrolytes as the human body, coconut water helps prevent dehydration and relieves exhaustion by replenishing the natural salts lost by the body; it is widely used in tropical countries as a means for oral rehydration needed during diarrhoeal attacks. It is essentially fat free and has zero cholesterol and some studies have reported that it can have some effect on improving "good" cholesterol levels (HDL) in the body. In the heat of summer when you are looking for something other than water to quench your thirst, you can have this nutritious and refreshing beverage instead of sugar and calorie laden aerated drinks and fruit juices. It is naturally sterile and so perfect for drinking while travelling without the fear of contamination.

Coconut water is a natural diuretic and so increases the flow of urine; this helps prevent urinary tract infections (UTI) as well as reduces the incidence of kidney stones. Coconut water also helps relieve constipation, improves intestinal function and promotes digestive health. It is often recommended to people suffering from acidity and ulcers. Constipation, sluggish digestion and heartburn are common problems during pregnancy and can be helped to some extent by drinking coconut water.

Coconut water contains high levels of lauric acid which is what is used by the body to make monolaurin - a disease fighting fatty acid derivative. Lauric acid has anti-fungal,       anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties which protect the body against various    infections and boosts the immune system. With such wide ranging nutritional benefits it is no wonder that coconut water is recommended for pregnant women.

Coconut Water is one of the best natural drinks on the face of the earth. It doesn't have any known side effects unless somebody is prone to having allergic reactions or have severe nut allergies. It is considered to be safe for children, pregnant, and breastfeeding women. If you are taking potassium supplements it is recommended to regulate your potassium levels since Coconut Water is high in potassium.

How to Beat Wrinkles

Fine line and wrinkles aren't inevitable. In fact skin experts believe that most of the skin damage can be prevented with a little know - how and some special care. Here are the Top10 factors to bear in mind no matter what your age.

• PROTECT YOUR SKIN FROM THE SUN:
The single biggest cause of skin ageing is sunlight. You should use a sunscreen every single day of the year. This will help prevent your skin from becoming prematurely aged as well as guard against burning. The ageing rays of the sun are as prevalent in the cold winter months as in the hot summer ones so it's a daily safeguard you should take.

• STOP SMOKING:
Cigarette smoke speeds up the ageing process because it strips your skin of oxygen and slows down the rate at which new cells are regenerated. It's responsible for giving the skin a grey sluggish look and can cause fine lines around the mouth because heavy smokers tend to be constantly pursing their lips to draw on a cigarette.

• DEEP CLEANSE:
Many older women don't cleanse their skin as thoroughly as they should believe this can lead to dryness and lines. However it's essential to ensure your skin is clear of dead skin cells dirt and make up to give it a youthful fresh glow.
You don't have to use harsh products to do this - a creamy cleanser removed with cotton wool (cotton) is a good option for most women. If your skin is very dry try massaging it with an oily cleanser. Leave it on your skin for a few minutes then rinse away the access with warm water.

• DEEP MOISTURIZERS:
As well as daily moisturizers you can also boost the water levels of your skin on a weekly basis. You can either use a nourishing face mask or apply a thick layer of your usual moisturizers or night cream. Whichever you choose leave it on the skin for 5-10 minutes them removes the excess with tissues. Apply to damp skin for greater effect.

• BOOST THE CIRCULATION:
Buy a gentle facial scrub or exfoliate and use once a week to keep the texture of your skin soft and smooth. This will also increase the blood flow to the top layers of skin giving it a rosy glow and help encourages cell renewal. Alternatively you can get the same effect by lathering up a facial wash on your skin using a clean shaving brush.

• DISGUISE LINES:
Existing lines can be minimized to the naked eye by opting for the latest light - reflecting foundations concealers and powder. These contain luminescent and powders. These contain luminescent particles to bounce light away from your skin making lines less noticeable and giving your skin a wonderful luminosity.

• PAMPER REGULARLY:
Along with your regular skin-care regime remember to treat your skin occasionally to special treatments such as facial serums and anti- ageing creams. As well as improving the look of your skin they'll encourage you to give it extra care on a regular basis.

• BE WEATHER VAIN:
Extremes of cold and hot weathers can strip your skin of essential moisturizers leaving it dry and more prone to damage. Central heating can have the same effect. For this reasons ensure you moisturizers regularly changing your products according to the seasons.

For instance you may need a more oily product in the winter which will keep the cold out and won't freeze on the skin's surface. In hot weather lighter formulations are more comfortable on the skin and you can boost their activity by using a few drops of special treatment serum underneath.

• BE GENTLE:
Be careful you don't drag at your skin when applying skin - care products or make - up. The skin around your eyes is particularly vulnerable to showing the sings of ageing. A heavy touch can cause the skin to stretch and go creepy. So make sure you always use a light touch instead and whenever you can take your strokes upwards rather than drag the skin down. Also avoid any products that make your skin itch sting or feel sensitive. If any products cause this sort of reactions stop using it at once and switch to a gentler formulation.

• CLEVER MAKE - UP:
Skin- care benefits aren't just confined to skin - care products these days. In fact many make - up products now contain UV filters and skin - nourishing ingredients to treat your skin as well as superficially improve its appearance. So investigate the latest products - its well worth making use of them for 24- hour’s day benefits.

For Bright Skin

There are a hundred products in the market that claim to make your skin lighter, brighter and shinier.

From soaps to creams to whitening facial kits everyone promises to make you look like the model on billboards. However, certain factors work to determine the colour of your skin. Understanding what is it that is making your skin looking sallow instead of crowding your dresser with skin-whitening products will help you.

In a country like India where every month seems like summer, tanning is inevitable. You just can't avoid the sun and if you were born with a wheatish complexion, then it's time you accept that about yourself. If your job involves a lot of traveling as against working in the cosy confines of an office, your skin is bound to take a beating. However with a little help from nature, you can get rid of that dull, lifeless skin.

-Do not throw away orange rinds after you are done eating the fruit. Dry the rind in the sun till it is devoid of all moisture and turns crisp. Grind it to make a fine powder. Add a little raw milk to the orange powder to make a paste. Apply this paste on your face and neck as often as possible.

-Add yoghurt and tomato juice to a teaspoon of oatmeal and apply it on your face. Oatmeal acts as an exfoliator without being harsh and tomato juice is an excellent astringent while the yoghurt leaves your skin moisturized.

-Mix a teaspoon of milk powder, one teaspoon lemon juice, half a teaspoon of honey and half a teaspoon of almond oil and apply this concoction to your face. Wash off with cold water after 10 to 15 minutes for baby soft skin.

No Salt Please!

“Salt to taste” as it reads in most recipes….at times far exceeds the sodium requirements of our bodies, resulting in water retention, stress on our kidneys and bloating up. Not to mention the fact that if you are salt-sensitive then you may be at a much higher risk of strokes and heart attacks.
Apart from the salt that you add to your food, do you know the amount of stealth salt you are exposed to? The papads, the pickles  that you eat have excessive salt and so does any other packaged food that you may be consuming on a regular basis. A good idea is to read the labels of what you are buying.
Let us help you identify the stealth salt in your food…
  • Use less, or no, salt in cooking or preparing dishes like salads, sauces and dips.
  • Remove the table salt and any salt seasoning – such as lemon, pepper, garlic and onion salts.
  • You should set aside the masala sachets that come with instant noodles, readymade soups, sauces etc.
  • Don’t use readymade salad dressings.
The Alternatives:For additional flavour to your food, minus the excessive salt, keep a stock of fresh garlic, onion, ginger, parsley, coriander, and seasonings like, dry onion powder, dry mustard, nutmeg, black pepper and roasted cumin powder in your kitchen.

Remember: It’s easier to cut down on sodium when you are on a healthy diet of fruits, vegetables and low fat dairy products

Hair removal by Waxing - Home remedies

Body hair is the bane of every (well, almost every) woman's existence, and getting rid of unwanted body hair tops the list of beauty priorities. One popular body hair removal method is waxing. Read on for answers to some of the most frequently asked questions on waxing. Find out on what parts of the body you can wax, and how to prepare wax at home.

On what areas of the skin can I wax?

You can wax your entire body, whether you are a male or a female. However, there are certain areas where you shouldn't apply wax:

* Inside the ears and nose
* Eyelashes
* On the nipples
* The male genital area

There are of course far more women who wax their bodies than men, but the number of males who go in for waxing is on the increase especially those with excessive body hair.

Can I wax my sideburns?

Yes, you most certainly can! You can wax your entire face, including forehead, but unless absolutely essential, this is not recommended. When getting your sideburns waxed, specify that you want a very small area waxed, and ensure that the beautician sticks to the area close to the ear. You could wax your chin, upper lip and eyebrows as well. However, it is preferable to thread the eyebrows and upper lip.

Can I wax my privates?

The term 'Brazillian waxing' is used to denote removal of hair from the entire female genital area. As wax is made from purely natural products like sugar, water and lemon, it can be safely applied to the genitalia. Brazillian waxing can be very painful, but many women feel that the results are well worth it. A less painful alternative is a bikini wax, in which the area visible outside the bikini line is waxed.

What are the advantages of waxing?

* Hair takes a longer time to grow back after waxing, because the hair is removed from the root. It takes around 4-6 weeks to grow back, and sometimes even longer.
* Waxing slowly reduces the growth of hair, so the more often you wax, the slower your hair growth.
* Gradually, over an extended period of time, the hair may even stop growing in the waxed area.
* Wax is made from natural ingredients like sugar, lemon and water, as opposed to depilatories (hair removal creams and lotions), which are made from harsh chemicals that burn the hair. Sugar and lemon are both beneficial for the skin.
* Dead skin is removed in the process of waxing. Waxing thus doubles as an effective exfoliator.
* The skin feels smooth after waxing.

Can I wax by myself?

Yes, you most certainly can! All it takes is a little practice, and once you've nailed the technique, waxing can be as easy as, well, cooking rice! The best part about being able to wax yourself is that you can be clean and hairless all the time since you will not have to take time out to visit the beauty saloon, and will not be dependent on anyone. And if you're prone to shaving in times of emergency, once your learn how to wax yourself you will not have to touch a razor ever again! Nevertheless, it can be a little messy and you may feel that it's just not worth the hassle. If the saloon is a stone's throw away, by all means, enjoy getting waxed by professionals. But if you're tight on cash, you just may want to give it a shot yourself. So, here goes:

Wax recipe:

  Ingredients:

2 cups sugar
¼ cup water
¼ cup lemon (nimbu) juice

  Method:

Pour the sugar, water and lemon juice in a saucepan, and heat it over a low flame. Keep stirring the mixture until all the sugar has melted, and you have a thick brown liquid. Let it cool slightly.

Waxing technique:

1. Test the temperature before applying the wax to your skin. It should be hot, but not scalding, or you can burn yourself.
2. Once the wax has cooled slightly, test it on your finger. Blow on it to cool it with your breath and apply it to your skin with a butter knife, in the direction of hair growth.
3. Place a clean cotton cloth strip on the wax and yank it against the direction of hair growth.
4. Wipe the area clean with a cold cloth after you've finished waxing.
5. You could also apply ice to the waxed area, to close and tighten pores.
6. You may notice that your skin has turned red, or that you have tiny bumps on the skin immediately after waxing. This is a normal reaction, and the redness and bumps should disappear within an hour. Applying a moisturizer or soothing lotion will help.

If you can still see sugar particles in the wax, the hair will probably not come out and you would need to re-cook the wax

Why do we not know about that? Because there are laboratories interested in making a synthetic version that will bring them huge profits. You can now help a friend in need by letting him/her know that lemon juice is beneficial in preventing the disease. Its taste is pleasant and it does not produce the horrific effects of chemotherapy. How many people will die while this closely guarded secret is kept, so as not to jeopardize the beneficial multimillionaires large corporations? As you know, the lemon tree is known for its varieties of lemons and limes. You can eat the fruit in different ways: you can eat the pulp, juice press, prepare drinks, sorbets, pastries, etc... It is credited with many virtues, but the most interesting is the effect it produces on cysts and tumors. This plant is a proven remedy against cancers of all types. Some say it is very useful in all variants of cancer. It is considered also as an anti microbial spectrum against bacterial infections and fungi, effective against internal parasites and worms, it regulates blood pressure which is too high and an antidepressant, combats stress and nervous disorders.
The source of this information is fascinating: it comes from one of the largest drug manufacturers in the world, says that after more than 20 laboratory tests since 1970, the extracts revealed that: It destroys the malignant cells in 12 cancers including colon, breast, prostate, lung and pancreas. The compounds of this tree showed 10,000 times better than the product Adriamycin, a drug normally used chemotherapeutic in the world, slowing the growth of cancer cells. And what is even more astonishing: this type of therapy with lemon extract only destroys malignant cancer cells and it does not affect healthy cells.

Sleep on your left side during pregnancy

A New Zealand study has suggested that sleeping on the left side during late pregnancy could help women avoid still-birth risk.

Researchers from the University of Auckland compared 155 women who had late still-births with 310 who had healthy pregnancies.

Sleeping on the right side or back doubled, but only to almost four in 1,000, the risk of left-sided sleepers.

Left-side lying aids blood flow to the baby, as the mother's major blood vessels are unimpeded by a heavy womb.

"There are many factors which are linked to still-birth including obesity, increasing maternal age, ethnicity, congenital anomalies and placental conditions. A significant number are unexplained," the BBC quoted Daghni Rajasingam of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, as saying.

"This small-scale study looks at another possible factor. However, more research is needed into sleep patterns before any firm conclusions over sleeping positions can be made.

In the meantime, women should speak to their midwives if they are concerned," added Rajasingam.

The study has been published in the British Medical Journal.

Six foods that help you quit smoking

Most people who smoke really wish that they wouldn't. They are well aware of the hazards of smoking and many among them really want to quit. Many of them try quitting, few are successful but a lot of them fail miserably and go back to their old habits.

Quitting requires a lot of desire, determination, and commitment. The more you learn about your options and develop a proper plan for quitting, the easier it will be.

Main reason quitting is such a difficult task is because nicotine is a very addictive substance. It messes with your mind and keeps it asking for more. There are a lot of methods that will help you quit smoking. These include nicotine patches, hypnosis and prescription medication etc. However, little do people know that the best of the method is actually sitting in their own refrigerator!

Yes! You guessed it right. It is food. So let's look at some foods that can help you stay tobacco free:
Milk is one of those all nutrient inclusive food that provides comprehensive nutrition to the body. But did you know that it can also help you to quit smoking.

Dukes University revealed that smokers who drank a glass of milk before smoking didn't like the taste of their cigarettes.

They complained that the cigarettes had suddenly developed a bitter after taste. You can also dip your cigarettes in milk and let them dry.

Every time you'll smoke one of these milk dipped cigarettes, you'll extinguish it half way through because of the horrendous taste it leaves in your mouth. Also, next time you think about smoking, you'll remember how your last cigarette tasted.
Some vegetables such as celery (use carrots if you don't like celery), zucchini, cucumber and egg-plant also leave a bitter after taste (just like milk) when had before smoking. Furthermore, some specialists claim that eating a lot of these vegetables can decrease the intensity of nicotine dependence.

However, stay away from sweet vegetables like peas and corn. The glucose in them can increase your craving by stimulating the areas of your brain responsible for pleasure and satisfaction. So nibble on fresh carrots and celery, or enjoy a delicious spinach salad the next time you feel like smoking.
Cigarettes rob you of your vitamin C supply, leaving you with a deficiency which the nicotine fills. So if you want to kick the habit fast, start drinking more orange juice or eating more fruits like oranges, lemons and pomegranates that are packed with this powerhouse vitamin.
Whenever the desire to smoke overpowers you, you should eat something salty or **** a little salt with the tip of your tongue. This kills your urge for smoking.

This Chinese herb can do more for you than weight loss. Ginseng has been shown to prevent the nicotine-induced release of the neurotransmitter dopamine. It should not be used daily but can be used 3-4 times a month.
Chewing sugar free gum when you have the urge to smoke is a good way of keeping the mouth busy. Make sure you avoid alcohol, caffeine, and red meat when you are attempting to quit smoking. These foods have the effect exact opposite of milk. They make cigarettes taste better.

Tips to prevent excessive sweating

Instead of having hot tea and coffee, go for fresh juices, lemonade or iced-beverages to regulate your body temperature, which will prevent excessive sweating.

Hydration keeps body temperatures low and thus, less sweat will be produced. Water effectively flushes out excess minerals and pushes out all toxins and waste products. Experts recommend six to eight glasses of water daily.

If your clothing is too tight, you are depriving your skin enough air to circulate around it. This increases sweating. During extreme hot conditions, it's a good idea to keep your collar open or simply wear light clothes like a T-shirt and pants.

This may come as a surprise to most people but some deodorants cause more bacteria to build up on the skin, which end up setting foul odour. That's why it's important to choose a deodorant or soap that suits your body.

Yoga is one of the most natural ways to control excessive sweating. Yoga calms down the nerves and subsequently lessens sweat production.

Stress and nervousness triggers the sweat glands and hence those who suffer from excessive sweating should lower their stress levels.

Despite the uncomfortable effects of a cold shower, it surely works wonders. While you are at it, try using an antibacterial soap to ensure the body is clean and odour-free.

Socks help keep the feet cooler, by absorbing feet perspiration and faster evaporation.

While hot baths may be useful in eliminating toxins through increased body temperature, problems of excessive sweating outweigh their benefits.

You are what you eat. Spicy foods may be delightful and tasty but they make your body sweat more frequently in short time periods.

Alcohol, cigarettes and drugs make it harder for the body to control sweating

Caffeine tends to cause anxiety, which in return triggers the body to excessive sweating

High quality undershirts made of cotton or just a T-shirt help absorb body sweat and make it evaporate fast.

Include whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables to your diet and avoid eating deep fried foods.
